Article: Between two worlds

Between two worlds
Ludovica Gualtieri built her house in Milan. She trained between Milan and Cambridge, and brings a background in management to her design. Both show in the collection: a designer’s eye for proportion, and a practical impatience with anything that makes a woman choose.
A day is never one thing
A working day in Milan can move from a morning meeting to an afternoon on foot to a dinner nobody planned. Most wardrobes answer that with more pieces. Ludovica answers it with construction: fewer garments, each asked to do more.
Two sides, both finished
The reversible coat is where the idea is clearest. Side A and Side B are not a face and a lining: each is made to be worn on the outside. On NUBIA, a quilted merino wool on one side meets a water-repellent, PFC-free gabardine on the other, gathered at a knitted waist.
Turned inside out, it is a second coat with a different character.
Close to home
Every piece is designed and prototyped in Italy, starts from a fabric made in Italy, and is produced within the European Union. Versatility is how the house thinks about sustainability: not a label, but a reason to own less and wear it more.
Elegance in Transformation
The phrase is the house's signature. It describes the coats, and the woman they are made for: someone who moves between worlds without losing herself.
